Cocoon is a hypothetical autism well-being foundation. My design concept is to transform emotions that autistic people cannot convey in words into the visual language from their perspective. Giving a voice to those in need through design.
Brand Strategy
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behaviors. They need long-term companionship and care from others. They immerse themselves in their own rich mental world for long periods of time and don't have the sense to receive and respond to social signals. They need extra patience and understanding from the public to help them integrate into society. The mission is to change attitudes by improving public understanding of autism. To break the cocooning barrier with autistic people and bring the public into their colorful inner world through social media, book and exhibition. To create a friendlier and more inclusive living environment for autistic people.
Inspiration
Shiota Chiharu is a Japanese installation artist who uses yarn to create a safe space isolated from the outside world, using these abstract lines to connect objects from everyday life. This cocoon-like space that she creates is filled with emotions that are difficult to describe in words. This art form reminds me of a group of people who are trapped in their cocoon-like spaces and have difficulty communicating their emotions in words: autistic people.
Logomark
Typography
Inspired by Chiharu, I created an alphabet. Using lines to connect the broken pieces of letters to reconstruct a new language system.
Promotion
“If words are bound, can you see their voices?”
Pop-up Exhibition
To make more people aware of autism through pop-up exhibitions in public places.
Storyboard
The motion graphic on the exhibition intro wall: shows the process of breaking the cocoon into a butterfly.
Editoral Design
I designed the exhibition book, which shares the monologue of an autistic author. I hope it can help non-autistic people understand autism and help them build social relationships.

Posters
I designed this set of posters based on the expressive habits of people with autism. Even though the words are garbled and repeated, they can still be read. What I want to express through this set of posters is that autistic people are not uncommunicative, but you just need more patience to read their thoughts.
